Ambassador and Permanent Representative Akillino H. Susaia meets with IOM Deputy Director General Ms. Ugochi Daniels.

Geneva, Switzerland – October 29, 2025.

His Excellency Akillino H. Susaia met with Ms. Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General of Operations from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the IOM headquarters in Geneva Switzerland on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Ambassador Susaia and Deputy Director General Daniels discussed the IOM Development Fund 2025 project: Diaspora Research: Laying the Ground work for Diaspora Engagement in the Federated States of Micronesia that was recently approved by the IOM. This annual project will commence on February 2026 and will last for about a year ending on January 02, 2027. Additionally, the project will support the Federated States of Micronesia`s migration policy implementation and address challenges as a key development priority that will also support local capacity development for Government stakeholders.

Ambassador Susaia expressed appreciation to Deputy Director Daniels for the assistance and continued support on behalf of the FSM National Government. He also noted FSM`s commitment toward further enhancing the valuable partnership through future partnership opportunities.

Deputy Director General Daniels reiterated IOM`s commitment to supporting the FSM and highlighted IOM Director General Amy Popes commitment to prioritize assisting countries in the Pacific Region. She also encouraged the FSM to share progress of the aforementioned project to raise awareness and visibility among member States especially during the next International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), which reviews progress on the Global Compact for Migration, scheduled in 2026 in Geneva Switzerland.
