Ambassador Akillino Harris Susaia presented his Letter of credentials to the Director General Qu Dongyu of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

H.E. Permanent Representative/Ambassador Akillino Harris Susaia officially became the FSM's Permanent Representative to the FAO, a significant step for FSM's engagement on global food security and agriculture issues. The credentials ceremony was preceded by the scheduled Presentation of Credentials for Ambassador Susaia to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV that was scheduled later in the week on the 6th of December 2025.

Following the brief ceremony, Ambassador Susaia held bilateral talks with DG Dongyu and his team. He thanked DG Dongyu for availing time out of his busy schedule to meet and  informed him about the situation of food security facing Micronesia and its people that is exasperated by the continued reliance on imported food and the impacts of Climate Change among the many food security issues and challenges.

Ambassador Susaia went further and acknowledged FAO`s ongoing technical assistance program and expert assistance to member countries.  Ambassador Susaia informed Director General Dongyu that the FSM Permanent Mission in Geneva is ready to support FSM’s enhanced diplomatic presence in Europe and FAO’s commitment to addressing food security related challenges within the FAO framework. Ambassador Susaia re-affirmed FSM’s commitment to the FAO’s ongoing work in Micronesia and at the regional level.

DG Gongyu thanked Ambassador Susaia and confirmed his office`s continued support to the FSM Government. He informed Ambassador Susaia that he looks forward to visiting the FSM in the near future. A brief exchange of gift was held at the end where Ambassador Susaia presented to the Director General a carving of a skip jack tuna symbolizing FSM’s main source of revenue.

Ambassador Susaia was accompanied by First Secretary Johnny Hadley Jr. from the FSM Embassy and Permanent Mission in Geneva.
